Online museum resources are a cost-free source of supplementary teaching material and can be incorporated into a range of engaging teaching activities, such as a virtual field trip, a student-led presentation of relevant material, or an assignment requiring students to design their own exhibit. I found that students in my online asynchronous class enjoyed virtual field trip assignments as a more “hands-on” activity that let them explore web resources themselves, but these resources could also be incorporated into a synchronous online class or a hybrid or in-person class as well. In my talk, I introduce the museum resources I used, talk about how I incorporated them into my teaching, and offer suggestions for how they might be adapted to other course modalities or disciplines.
